Woodland garden

A woodland garden around a new sauna

From design and site preparation to basalt paths, lighting and woodland planting, we helped connect a new Nootka sauna with the home’s back deck.

The work

For this project, we helped bring a new Nootka sauna into the garden, with planting and pathways connecting it to the home’s back deck. The aim was to make the whole area feel considered and comfortable to use.

Our involvement started with the design and preparation of the space. We helped with trenching for the power line installation, prepared the area for the sauna, and brought in soil for the surrounding planting beds.

Basalt steps provide access to the sauna, while basalt pathways link the different parts of the space back to the deck. These connections were an important part of the layout, giving the new garden a clear route through it.

Woodland-inspired planting softens the edges of the sauna and stonework, helping everything blend into the surroundings. Lighting brings the finishing detail to the space. Together, the planting, paths and access turn the area around the sauna into an extension of the garden.
