Keep leaves from building up
A thick, wet layer of leaves can smother grass. Clear heavy accumulations and check corners where leaves collect after windy weather.
Mow for the conditions
Continue mowing while the lawn is growing, using a height suited to the grass. Avoid scalping it or working on saturated ground.
Look below the surface
Compacted soil, poor drainage and shade can all contribute to weak growth. Assess the cause before planning aeration, soil improvement or overseeding. Seed needs suitable temperatures, soil contact and an establishment plan.
Make watering and feeding purposeful
Check soil moisture and local watering restrictions before irrigating. Rainfall may already be meeting the lawn’s needs. Base feeding on the condition of the soil and turf; OG Gardens uses organic alternatives.
