Adjust your mowing
Avoid cutting grass very short during hot weather. A suitable higher mowing height helps shade the soil. Reduce mowing when growth slows and avoid unnecessary wear on stressed turf.
Follow local watering rules
Check your municipality’s current restrictions before using a sprinkler. Where watering is permitted and needed, aim to moisten the root zone without runoff. Fixed schedules can waste water when rainfall, soil or shade changes the lawn’s needs.
Avoid pushing stressed growth
A dormant or drought-stressed lawn does not need encouragement to grow faster. Wait for suitable conditions before feeding, and assess the soil and turf before choosing an organic amendment.
Plan repairs for establishment
Take note of worn patches, compacted areas and persistent thin growth. Cooler conditions may be more suitable for repairs, but successful seeding or sod installation also needs an appropriate watering plan and compliance with current restrictions.
